Hello!

I am feeling a bit burned out this afternoon so I’m going to share a few news items/links I found interesting this week. We’ll get back to your regularly scheduled company profile next.

• Microsoft is probably going to buy Discord - Microsoft continues to buy up/plan to buy up companies to position themselves as a hub of communities, communication and creation.

• David Dobrik is a horrible person - I am 100% a ‘youtube person’. I have been watching primarily beauty/drama related videos since grad school (13 years ago) and it is part of my daily routine. YouTube always has some kind of drama happening, and it’s great to see one of its largest creators loose opportunities and monies due to the disgusting rape/SA content he’s put out (not to mention his desire to never believe victims).

• The Free Software Foundation let RMS rejoin the board - RMS is someone who’s been around the Linux community for decades and has been making gross statements about pedophilia, women and more ever since. The silver lining is it seems like his re-join generally angered a lot of folks, including Red Hat.

• For some reason companies continue to make pulling offers a thing - pro tip, it’s a huge red flag. Never been afraid to counter and if they pull your offer you don’t want to work there.

• A TON of people announced they left their jobs recently - I’m not going to link to all of the announcements, but my favorite might be Sarah Drasner saying she’s leaving Netlify to work on her on thing!!!

• Lil Nas X is a dream human - Truly the gay icon we all need.
